Kaya Mawa

Likoma island Nkwazi Village, Malawi

Kaya Mawa “Maybe Tomorrow” is the idyllic private luxury beach destination on Likoma Island in Lake Malawi.

Winning the award for the Conde Nast’s most Romantic beach destination in 2017, Kaya Mawa prides itself as the perfect African beach getaway in the warm heart of Africa.

Encircled by glorious sandy beaches and rocky coves, covered with mango and baobab trees as far as the eye can see. The lodge was hand-built by the islanders and designed sustainably to fit into the rocky island coves, each with serene views of the lake which make for incredible sunsets. Each of the rooms have easy access to the lake and/or a private plunge pool.

The unique and imaginative peach and blue beach themed interiors mostly sourced from Katundu, a women’s empowerment project on the island, create a very special ambience. Kaya Mawa, part of the Green Safaris family, prides itself in its sustainable safaris using solar to power the lodge, the Quadbikes as well as the eBikes to explore the island. Kaya Mawa is also involved in various educational and agricultural community projects.

Likoma Island, surrounded by the pristine waters of Lake Malawi, is widely regarded as having the best diving on the Lake, both in terms of the diversity of fish species and their sheer abundance. Kaya Mawa is a recognized PADI resort and offers wonderful diving as well as many other water sports for guests to enjoy an adventure or simply relax in their private space.
